CHARGES:

My fees for work done on an hourly basis range from £35 to £75 per hour.

I will quote a fixed price for a job (Whether a complete project or section of a project) and where the specification is clear this is often cheaper than my hourly rate.

In general, large well defined jobs are proportionally the lowest cost. Jobs with tight deadlines command the highest fees - Risk assessment is a factor in the fees I charge.

Projects with time scales > 2 months need to be agreed in terms of interim targets and payments.

Where I am undertaking full project development, I may subcontract aspects of the work - this is particularly likely for large projects, where PCB layout, High power (>3kW), and any high level (Windows drivers + Apps) software are likely to be subcontracted

I manage all aspects of the project, and my client does not even need to be aware of the subcontract processes involved

I undertake all work from my lab, but can undertake on-site visits to my client if they are in the U.K. (Particularly if they are in Hampshire).

I will undertake an initial assessment free of charge, and advise of likely cost and time scales - Please understand that this is quite likely to be inaccurate(particularly for larger projects), but may be used as a guide.

If appropriate, I will advise of the cost of preparing a detailed assessment leading to a binding quote - In some cases I will be able to do this stage free, but it can take many hours to fully assess design requirements, and in some cases some preliminary design needs to be done before a reliable quote can be produced.

 I cannot always carry the cost of this process - in the case of a large / difficult project, this phase can take several weeks, and I  would need to charge something in the order of £500 to cover part of this cost.

As with all work I do, full documentation and designs done in an assessment phase will be provided to the client, whether they chose to proceed using my services or not.
